Go Ahead Received For New Windpower Facility

Enmax Corp. has received regulatory and governement approval for a windpower generating facility in the Municipal District of Taber in southern Alberta, Canada.

Construction on the 80-megawatt wind farm is expected to begin in April and be completed by the first quarter of 2007 at a cost of approximately $140 milion, the company says.

“We’er making this investment in response to increasing customer demand for cleaner energy,” CEO Gary Holden said in a release. “We already have the largest green-power marketing program in Canada, and this news reinforces our commitment to meet people’s needs for cleaner energy.”

Enmax has a 20 year supply agreement with its owner, The City of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, which has agreed to purchase 100 per cent of its electricity.

The Calgary based company provides electricity, natural gas, renewable energy and services to more than 435,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Alberta, Canada.
